Healthy Balsamic Vinaigrette!

Hi lovies!

I’m not sure about you but I love to add a little something extra to my salad using salad dressing. I try to stay away from store bought dressing as they are very high in fats, even some of the vinaigrette’s. In the past I have just used balsamic vinaigrette as a healthy alternative, but the extremely tart taste has grown a little old for me. So… it was time to create another one to add some variety in my life ;)

Here is a tasty and easy alternative to store bought dressings:

Easy Balsamic Vinaigrette:

  • 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup smooth dijon mustard
  • (optional) splenda brown sugar to taste if you would like your dressing a little sweeter
  • (optional) freshly minced garlic

Whisk together until all ingredients are combined to make a nice smooth mixture.

And vuala! Your easy breezy dressing is made. I find that if I add a small amount to my salad and mix it in well, that I  get a nice even coat with good flavor, without using to much.

Hope that helps you guys in your quest to stay happy and healthy! If you have any more ideas on healthy dressings please do leave your comments :)

Talk to you guys soon,

Love Nicola

Hi Marlena! Just thought maybe you would like to know if you didn’t have time yet to search for a gym class since your arrival. There’s this channel on Youtube called “Gym Direct”. Actually, it’s a program featured on Direct 8 every morning but since it’s broadcasted very early, they decided to post the classes online. Here’s the link:

Hi Marlena, I’m new French MUG from Strasbourg…nos you are In France… It’s about 2 hours from lovely Paris by train.. Just à quick tip for à top salad dressing: simply mix 1 spoon of balsamique vinegar (the older the better…because sweeter) and 1 spoon of sweet soy sauce. That way you avoid using oil!… Hope this helps! Of you get the chance to come to Strasbourg, please let me knowles, i’ll show you around. All the best, Caroline

    • Nicola

That’s a great idea! Thanks for that! :)

if you use flavored balsamic vinegars and infused flavored EVOO you can get endless different tastes.  There’s even a chocolate (!) balsamic vinegar.

    • Fleurdelis05

I have found pomegranate-infused balsamic vinegar, but I have never seen chocolate! Can you, or anyone else recommend some good national branda (without resorting to spam, of course) —->Just for appropriate FYI. Thanks :)

    Hi Marlena,
I am not here to sell to you but over on my page, https://www.facebook.com/ACEYourWeight, we discuss our weight loss and one of the things my people love is a dressing found in the store called Walden Farms. You may want to try that one. It seems to be a hit. I think they said Walmart has it.

I made this without the Splenda and I have to say, this was by far, the best salad dressing I’ve ever tasted.  I’ve been eating salads for the last 5 days because I can’t get enough of it!  Thank you for the delicious recipe!

Thanks for sharing a healthy alternative!  I am using a portion control supplement called Roca Labs and I think it’s okay to get tempted with these low calorie treats.  I can still keep my average weight loss goal of 1 – 2 lbs a week.
