Life in Paris: Day 2
Friday, March 30
Today has been yet another beautiful day in Paris! We picked up some fresh croissants from Monoprix this morning and came home to have them with our new FAVORITE coffee!! We had it yesterday for the first time, it’s called Lavazza. It puts Starbucks to shame
After adjusting to a 9 hour time change and my 32 hours without sleep (yay for jet lag), we went to a small restaurant where we got sandwiches with chicken, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. Sounds plain right? Wrong! It was frikkin delicious! The fresh produce here is SO fresh and really flavorful. Not usually a mayo person but the mayo here is different, it has a light mustard flavor to it , and is fluffier than the mayo back home. I know I’m totally blowing my diet today, but I also got a raspberry tartelette. It is the BEST dessert I have ever had!! I’m such a raspberry lover, so this completely caught my eye. It had this delicious glaze on it – sweet, but not overly sweet.
Ok, before you think this is a food blog, let me move on
After lunch we set out to do some shopping. We tried desperately to stay away from the stores that we already have back home (they have Claires, Bath and Body, Gap, and H&M here), but where did we find ourselves….H&M. We couldn’t help it- haha! We also got some makeup from a store called Kiko Cosmetics as well as some goodies from the local “pharmacie”. So I’ll be doing a review/haul for you on that soon
After shopping we found our way back to our apartment and walked around our neighborhood some more…even though we are so tired, we still can’t stop walking as the buildings are so beautiful here! (gotta work off my amazing lunch and dessert, you know). We are just loving this city.
By night time, we headed to the Eiffel Tower as I knew it wouldn’t feel like Paris until I got to see it. And let me just say, it was beautiful!!! I literally gasped out loud when I saw it. We just stood and stared at it for a few minutes in awe that we are actually in Paris! The lights beaming from it looked like it was an attraction at Disneyland. Every hour on the hour they have a light show that lights up the whole tower- you can see the twinkling lights in this pic
We are now officially exhausted and cannot go on anymore as it is 12:15 and we’ve been going since this morning! Off to bed before I pass out on the keyboard.
