How I Organize My Closet

OK my beautiful Makeup Geeks, since I had already done the fashion tag video and have shown you my closet before, I wanted to do another video showing you how I have my closet organized. I don’t have a fancy set up but I do try to keep my clothes organized and in order since I do have a walk-in closet. I try to make as much of the available space that I have.

I hang my necklaces on corkboard that I got from T.J. Max at a great price. I use plastic hooks I purchases at Target to hang my necklaces on. This keeps them in order and from getting tangled. I use the same thing for my earrings and rings. This keeps them well organized and makes it easy to go in and find exactly what I am looking for.

I purchases the bracelet stand from Michael’s. You can also find these at  eBay and Amazon. The cabinet these are sitting on came from Target and I use it to store the sweaters I don’t wear often.

What I really wanted to show you all is how I organize my camisoles and belts.  You can purchase these belt racks from Amazon. I put the belts on each of the little hooks and it not only keeps them organized but also seperated enough that they are easy to find and I can see what I have. I use the same racks to help organize my camisoles because I actually wear camisoles a lot! This helps keep them organized as well without taking up a lot of space and makes finding them much easier.

For the rest of my wardrobe I don’t really have a system on how I organize them. I keep all my t-shirts, dresses, tops, sweaters, button-up shirts, and jackets all together so they aren’t scattered around my closet. This makes it much easier  to find when I am looking for a particular piece of clothing. For my pants I got hangers from Target that hold 4-5 pair of pants on one hanger. Another thing that makes these so great is that the end of them opens up so you can easily remove your pants without wrinkling them.

For my scarves I use the same belt rack that I use for my camisoles and belts.

The other thing that I have that helps save space is my shoe rack I purchased from Ikea  (don’t forget to check out my video of my shoe collection). In the top drawer I keep all my sunglasses and odds and ends. In the bottom two drawers I keep several pairs of my shoes. These make excellent storage and help keep shoes out of the way.   I keep the rest of my shoes on a shoe rack I got from Target but I am not sure if it’s something I will buy again. The shoes have a tendency to slide between the bars and don’t stay up the way they are suppose to.

To store my purses I got simple bookshelves from Target and didn’t put the front doors on them. I laid them over on their sides and used them as dividers to put their purses in.

So that’s how I organize my closet, how do you organize yours? I want to see your videos or read your comments on unique items or ways you have found to help organize your closet. I love finding new things that will help me to get more organized and as always I LOVE hearing from all my wonderful MUGs.

XOXO,

Marlena

i like the jewlery organization and i actually copied that from your last post on that but i saw on pinterest maybe a better way to do your scarves. get some of the circular shower curtain rings and put them on a hanger and drape your sarves through them. they will be completely separated from eachother and you wont have to pull any you dont need off a hook to get to one you want. i also like what you did with you purses. ill have to do that

I have all my purses on this huge shelf organizer from Home Depot-love my purses lol, I use shower curtain rings for each scarf and have hooks on wall in closet( walk in closet shaped like and L) to hang each scarf. I use big plastic drawers from target that under hung clothes for layering tanks and shirts, a hook that hangs over closet door for sweatshirts then a shelf above where all my clothes are hung for shoes.the back portion of the L I just use storage bins for books, past school stuff, etc

To hang your scarves, get a curtain rod and attach it to the back of your closet door. Then you can just drape the scarves over the rod. If you want one for you hats and glove get some shower rings to and put them on the bar and use them to hang smaller things. :-)

Do you remember where you got the strips of grooved plastic shown in one of the pictures above? You said you got the little hooks on the right from Target and I recognize those, but searching Target did not give me a hit for the strips.
