3 Work Outfits for the Curvy Girl

Hello lovies!

Work can be a daily grind, and when you’re in a rush in the morning, the last thing you have time for is putting together a different outfit for each day.  Here’s a few things that I wear for work meetings- hopefully they just give you some ideas :)

Outfit 1:  Green and Pink

Even though this is a simple outfit, I love the combination of turquoise with pink.  (ooh… that’d be a great eye makeup look! ;) )  For warmer months, you can always switch out the white sweater for a short sleeve button up or a “dressy” white tshirt.  I like wearing the darker colors on bottom so it helps camouflage my larger thighs, while the v neck sweater draws more attention towards my necklace and face.

  • Pin Stripe Dress Pants – The Limited
  • White V Neck Sweater – Old Navy
  • Turquoise Beaded Necklace – The Limited
  • Jessica Simpson Pink Heels – Amazon
  • Gold Bracelet (I bought a couple years ago)

Outfit 2:  Coral and Tan

Normally I would never wear light colored pants on bottom, but with all the color and accessories going on up top, it helps balance out  my shape.  I love wearing structured jackets and it emphasizes my waistline and doesn’t hide my curves, plus this coral color is perfect for this time of year!

Outfit 3:  Retro Dress and White Cardi

Can I just say how much I love this dress?!  The empire waistline is so flattering for my shape as it cuts in at the waist, and the length is just perfect for work.  I paired this dress with a skinny tan belt for a lil’ pop, and the nude heels ties it all together while keeping it somewhat neutral and classic.

  • Polka Dot Dress - Old Navy
  • Skinny Beige Belt – Forever 21
  • White Cardigan – Old Navy
  • Jessica Simpson Nude Slingback Heels –  Macys or Amazon
  • Michael Kors “Jet Set” Tote –  Amazon

Makeup:

  • Maybelline Color Tattoo in Gold (Inner Corner) (Amazon)
  • MAC Goldmine Eyeshadow (inner corner on top of color tattoo) (Amazon)
  • Makeup Geek Preppy Eyeshadow  (on the lid) – (Compact) (Pan)
  • Makeup Geek Cupcake Eyeshadow (in the crease) – (Compact) (Pan)
  • Makeup Geek Bada Bing Eyeshadow (along lashline)  - (Compact) (Pan)
  • NYX Lipgloss in Candy Shop  -   (Makeup Geek Store)
I’d love to see some ideas from all of you on what you wear to work!  I hope you’re having a great week so far!  I can’t wait for fall so I can pull out my fun scarves and jackets- yay!! ;)
xoxo,
Marlena

Beautiful work outfits, I’m loving all your fashion videos & blog posts. I wanted to ask…where did you purchase the (pink cork heels)? Because the link you posted are totally different from the heels you have on.

I got them from my local Marshalls :) Do a google search for Jessica Simpson pink slingbacks/heels- maybe they’ll pull them up :)

  • Anahi

Marlena, the tittle of the video says curvy girl, but after your weight loss you are not a plus size anymore, you fit into the “regular” clothes.

If you dont mind asking, what size are you? Im size 14 and I dont find clothes as pretty as yours :(

    • H

Curvy doesn’t always have to mean plus sized.

      • DesignFriend

I am a 4/6 and have a hell of a time finding bottoms sometimes because I’m curvy. I’m a 2/4 on top and a 4/6/8 on bottom, depending. Majorly bootylicious, and even I can’t fit into “regular” clothes! It really depends on the brand but it’s not easy, even as a small girl. Nothing fits int he waist if it fits in the hip and thighs, so altering is crucial. After seeing Marlena’s body a little more for the first time, I can see why she could have trouble finding stuff—I carry weight in the same way, in my hips and thighs. She may not be “plus size” but “regular” clothes can be challenging if you have a curvy shape. Sometimes clothes labeled, “curvy” make you look so much worse!

Just as an FYI, a while ago, Banana Republic’s Martin fit was extremely flattering- they fit straight through the leg and looked like a wide leg pant- very slimming. With a good coupon, which they have often, you can find some fantastic trousers for work, and great quality.

        • Sophy

I have the exact same problem!!!!!! I’m also small, 5’2” 115lbs but my hips and waist are out of proportion when it comes to bottoms! So frustrating.

    • Thu

I am a size 14, and I get lots of my clothes from NY&Co and White House Black Market.

  • thawongway

I agree about being curvy. I’m between a size 8 and 10 but have big hips. curvy does not have to mean plus size.
Marlena, love the way The Limited pants fit. They seem to be one of few places that don’t cut their pants super straight, perfect for people w thighs and hips. They dress looks amazing on you. Love the ideas.

  • Pat

I love look 2 the best. The color of the pants looks great on you. I’ve heard that wearing neutrals as pants works well and this is a great example of that.

  • Sandy

Marlena, I loved the lace top went to the website but couldn’t find it can you please tell me the exact name of top…Thanks by the way love your outfits….

  • vanessa irizarry

Love your outfit videos! I was wondering could you do a three look video for what you would wear out like to a club? Iam also curvy so i have a hard time picking out something flattering for going out and finding outfits that look sexy but not like “oh she should not be wearing that” lol :-) you are such an inspiration thanks for all you do!

  • Maitri

Wow good to see you in a dress :)

  • Brittany

I love your ensembles for professional wear. Right now i am in the transition phase between getting rid of the comfortable clothes from college and getting into the business wear for work. All of your outfits are great, but what do you have for girls without curves?
My major issue is finding pants that actually stay up, unless there is a belt. I have no booty and no hips. When I sit down at my desk if my pants don’t have a belt, they creep down showing a little too much for comfort. And if I do have a belt, when I sit down it cuts me across the middle which is uncomfortable. What do you have that is chic, professional, and stays on without literally gluing it to my body?

  • Amanda Peoples

Do you have suggestions for girls size18/20…I’min the midst of getting smaller( down from size 22) but I don’t want to buy a lot of clothes knowing I’m not going to fit them for long…

  • Mikki

from one girl to another you have big boobs and so do i! i have such a hard time finding cute clothes that dont make my boobs like they are going to pop out of my shirt! I am a freshman in high school and its so embarassing when guys only look at me cuz of my boobs can you help me!?!?!?!!
