3 Outfit Ideas for the Curvy Girl

Finding cute outfits that flatter my curvy shape can be difficult at times, so I just wanted to share a few ideas of outfits that I love to wear!

Outfit #1 – Casual Denim

Bracelet: Express (last year)

Outfit #3- Nautical Inspired

Details:

What are your thoughts on me doing fashion idea videos? I realize I’m not a fashion icon in ANY way, but I do like giving some ideas especially for all us curvy girls I just like sharing ideas with others, so I’d love to hear your suggestions!

  That’s really sweet! Thank you Express is one of my favorite stores! For my boobs to be completely honest, I had a breast lift (when I lost the weight they sagged some) so now they are a bit higher… With my weightloss, it came off everywhere but at different stages. It still hasn’t come off my legs quite yet, so it’s always a work in progress

I love the outfits you put together, especially the second one it’s really cute. I would like to see you put together fashion videos. It’d be interesting to see your take. I’m in the process of losing weight and getting fit, but in the process I’m not going to dress like a blob I still like to look good so it’s nice to see some ideas that would work for curvier girls. Not only that, but it’s nice to see how you pick pieces from relatively inexpensive stores. I’d love to see more fashion ideas. =]

Girl you look so good…I am really thin and I’m actually trying to gain weight lol my husband thinks I’m too thin… Anyhow I love how you embrace your curves…I wish I had curves…it just looks more womanly, instead I feel like a 31 year old with a 13 year old body.:(

what are some other places you suggest getting jeans at (even if you have to tailor them) at more affordable prices? im 21, my waist to thigh ratio is not as nicely dramatic as yours lol, but i am a size 12-14, more 14, and other than rue 21 i cant even find that size in any of the stores in my mall. ive tried torrid, but im too small there, and i dont even poke my head in some of the other stores lol. thank you so much if you reply, and you’re weight loss journey is such an inspiration! you look absolutely gorgeous and i love your style

  I ordered some awesome tummy control camis from Target.com –I dont think they are in the actual store though so just to let you know if you order that they do run a little small. hope that helps.

Hey Marlena! I love your videos, all, about make up, outfits, hair stuff and all, all, all! What can I say about this video is: first thing I would not recommend for you is short sleeves of jeans, it shorten your legs and makes your hips and but bigger, the second one stripes are fun but this lenght of the tuniqe is a wrong, I mean it shouldn’t be soooo long! It makes you short! I am not an expert but I have friend of mine who is the shop helper! And she “sold” me a few tips! And I am really grateful for that and still having fun with fashion and clothes! Btw I am a Curvy girl and I am proud of it! Also can say the same, it isn’t easy for me to find a proper size jeans, dah!

hi! can i give you a suggestion? the second look, if you got the top part to be not too tight on your waist would look better – or as you said, if you wear stripes on the top, don’t do it on the bottom, cause if you wanna ballance the top part with the bottom part, the stripes would do the job, but since you have the stripes on the bottom part too, the enlarge that part, not allowing the balance to show. and you actually look slimmer with the first outfit than with the two other – wich you still look beautiful in.
just try to use vertical lines to allongate your body, open jackets or vests… the less horizontal lines – lines, not stripes – you use, the more you seem to be taller and slimmer.i just wanted to say you look amazing already, and please don’t freak out about the shape of your body… i love your youtube channel and i enjoy all the tips – about everything – you give. you’re doing a great job and i wish you the best and thank you for sharing everything you know!

You should continue to do videos like this. I never thought about taking my pants to a tailor. I always have a hard time finding pants that fit me right. They’ll fit in one place then be too baggy in another place. I’m going to have to look into a tailor out by me.

The NYDJ’s are great. I sell them at my work all the time. But check into the new Jag jeans “paley boot”. They are flat front and oh so comfy.

The outfits are great and you look fabulous. The only problem I find is that these stores are certainly not stores true curvy girls can shop at. In plus size stores it’s very difficult to find clothing that you recommend for us, other than the pricey Lane Bryant. I would love to be able to shop at Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe and put together outfits that are similar. However, thank Marlena for taking time and motivating us by being a great example to follow.

I agree with most previous comments, the first outfit is very slimming, you look great! Horizontal stripes probably aren’t the best idea if you want to look slimmer, but the curvy look is also very becoming!

You know I always thought you had an hour shape figure, and I have to agree on the jacket because it does balance out the outfit. hey marlena, you look fantastic in all of your pics but i am surprised that 2 of them have horizontal stripes. ive always read and been told that if youre curvy or on the heavier side, you should as a general rule stay away from horizontal stripes because your eye follows the pattern and it tends to make the wearer look wider than they are. i know i look rubbish in them, and maybe youre the exception! but i just wanted to give everyone a heads up. to see what i mean, if you look at the first and third outfits, youll see how the jacket creates this vertical stripe which lengthens the torso, like how if you want to make your nose look slimmer you contour the sides darker. anyway, keep up the good work!

I’ve got a big chest and a little budget. Its hard to squeeze into the too small sizes Walmart carries. I can never find a bra that keeps them up where they’re supposed to be. I’d love to see you do a post on how plus sized chests can find their right size bra and what brands/styles you like best.

  I have a big chest as well, and I have found that the best bras are at Lane Bryant. They are a little.pricy but one will last a while and they are sooooo comfy. They aRe the only ones I have found to be a great fit. Hope this helps.

I have lost about 60 pounds over the past 8 months and continuing with the weight loss journey. However, I find myself having problems finding clothes that are transitioning from weight to weight. Do you have any staple pieces that you found worked well for you though various stages in your weight loss?
